Jeffry Cody PEterson
Jeff is a part of our Veterans Open Studio group and served in the US Navy. Jeff says that his earliest art memory was watching his mother make doodles and thinking to himself - I can do that. After that he remembers bringing his drawings to school for “Show and Tell” and later while in the Navy, using his talents to draw portraits of the other guys’ loved ones. Jeff says he continued to do art on and off, but it wasn’t until starting at DLAC that he began doing art regularly. Jeff says he comes to DLAC every week because it gives him purpose and supports his mental health. It also gives him inspiration and encourages him to take time for his art. Jeff’s art is inspired by all the countries and islands he’s been to and his time hitchhiking across the country. Jeff uses mixed media to repurpose found canvases, lampshades, and other objects, and transforms them with paint, glitter, bark, stones, and much more to create spectacular landscapes.
